Google buys NYC Building for $1.8 Billion

Google has the cash and they are buying real estate. They just signed a contract to purchase a New York City office building for $1.8 billion. It is at 111 Eighth Avenue, located in the Chelsea neighborhood. The building last changed hands in 1998.
CalSTRS Invests $250 Million in Single-Family Housing
The California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS) is dipping their toes back into real estate by allocating $250 million to the single family housing sector. The commitment is split between two JVs, Resmark Equity Partners and IHP Capital Partners. CalSTRS believes prices are near the bottom and are poised for appreciation.
